Art gallery pops up in Gilbert’s of Uppingham
A temporary art gallery has opened in Uppingham.
The former Gilbert’s furniture store on Ayston Road will showcase the work of 45 artists.
Luisa Jamieson Mclean, who used to work for Kath Gilbert, said: “It has been sad to see the shop empty since Kath retired last March after 56 years.
“So while the search continues for a new suitable leaseholder I saw the potential to utilise the space to showcase the art work of some of the many talented artists living in Rutland and beyond.”
The gallery will be open for three weeks from 11am to 6pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
It will feature the work of several multi-award-winning artists.
