Rutland artists Katherine Staples launches new pottery workshops

Ceramics and pottery classes will be running at a new studio in Whissendine.

Katherine Staples launched her business with the support of a grant from the Leader programme which was funded by the European Union and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to boost rural economies.

She will be running classes for beginners and experienced potters starting on Tuesday, February 25.

The classes will teach people to hand build, use press moulds and throw on the wheel.

Katherine said: “I want to see other people benefitting from ceramics as an art form.

“Art is such a fantastic outlet. Personally I’ve found working with clay very therapeutic and that’s what I want for my workshops – for people to unleash their creativity, really use their imagination and get a boost from socialising and learning new skills.”
