Ketton artist launches pop up gallery in Oakham
An artist has launched a pop up gallery to highlight her work to people passing by.
Rebecca Ivatts, 48, a former pupil at Stamford High School who now lives in Ketton, has set up the display in Mill Street, Oakham, and will start a permanent gallery in Uppingham next year.
After completing an Oxford degree in languages, Rebecca trained in objective life drawing and painting at the Slade and subsequently studied at the Royal Drawing School.
It was while living in Madrid that she started to exhibit in galleries, and was chosen by one in northern Spain as one of six best emerging artists in Spain.
After working as a professional artist and art teacher in Madrid and London, mother-of-two Rebecca moved to Rutland and will be resident in Mill Street until early January, before setting up a permanent studio in Uppingham.
The work ranges from seascapes and landscapes to still life and nudes. Her recent collection of work, ‘All in the mind’ relates to mental health and neuroscience.
Rebecca also produces children’s portraits on commission.
