Bourne Tesco supermarket staff thwarts attempted theft of toothbrushes worth £1,700

Would-be thieves tried to wheel away £1,700 worth of toothbrushes on Monday (April 15).

Two men and two women filled up supermarket trolleys before heading for the door of the Bourne Tesco store.

However, their attempt at a clean getaway was thwarted by a plucky Tesco's employee who intervened and stopped their attempted theft.

The four people abandoned the trolleys and went off empty-handed.

The rescued trolleys contained electric toothbrushes and replacement brush heads.

Insp Ian Martin of Bourne Police said: "This was good work by the member of staff, who prevented a brazen attempt to steal the items."

Anyone with information on the people behind the attempted theft should call Bourne Police on 101.
