Bakers set to show off skills in the Great Market Overton Bake Off

Bakers will be showing off their skills in the Great Market Overton Bake Off as part of the feast weekend festivities.

Former Oakham baker Bruce Strickland will judge the contest at the village hall on Saturday, June 29 when entrants will be asked to showcase their scones, cupcakes, biscuits and sponges.

Organiser Dot Alexander said: “We are looking forward to receiving lots of delicious entries.”

Entry forms cost £1 from Market Overton shop. Judging will take place at 11am and prize-giving at 3pm. Proceeds will go to the village hall.

The main feast event will run from 10am until 4pm. It will include a food festival, scarecrow trail, cream teas, pony rides, music, children’s entertainment and hymns at 6pm.
