WHAT Makes A Bargain? is the title of this year’s Bryan Matthews Lecture which will be held in the Old Schoolroom at Uppingham School on Wednesday, April 4 at 7.30pm.

Speaking will be Professor Steven King who gave a popular talk on Letters To Lyddington in November and who, for the past 20 years, has been collecting diaries of anyone connected with Rutland. This time he will be talking about value for money in the area from 1591 to 1938, ranging from false teeth to the first commercial toilet paper.

The lecture has been organised by Rutland Local History & Record Society. Admission is free.
