A CRICKET club has a new pavilion after five years of planning.
Barnack Cricket Club opened its new building, named the Village Pavilion, on Friday last week.
The project was first thought of in 2006 after the club’s old pavilion started to crumble.
Builder Maffit began work last autumn after donations from Peterborough City Council and various fundraising events, and despite ice and snow the building was ready for the new cricket season.
Barnack parish councillor Ian Burrows said: “The cricket ground has long been regarded as one of the best in our region, and with its new stone pavilion few clubs can offer such magnificent facilities.
“Many people gave both their time and expertise very generously and freely to ensure the project came to fruition.”
The new building is owned by Barnack’s Community Association.
