Nick Hamilton and his team from Barnsdale Gardens have won a gold medal at Chelsea Flower show this week.

Nick’s winning design ‘Barnsdale Gardens- Past, Present and Future’ commemorates the 20th anniversary of the untimely death of his father Geoff, who founded Barnsdale Gardens during his time as the much-loved presenter of Gardeners’ World.

In the past few years, Barnsdale has won silver-gilt - one short of gold - but has now taken the top award at the world-famous flower show, which finishes tomorrow.

Nick said: “We’re all over the moon. When I finished setting up on Sunday I did walk away from the display thinking it was the best we’ve done.

“We’ve put together a display that looks at my dad’s legacy- with special plants donated by many of his friends and examples of his famously homespun approach to gardening.”
