AN MP has called for the Union Flag to be flown with pride across the area to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year.

John Hayes, MP for South Holland and the Deepings, wrote to South Holland District Council and the Lincolnshire County Council asking them both to fly the flag as a tribute to the monarch.

He said: “I was delighted to hear that our majestic flag will be flown by our local authorities and I encourage everyone, from families to businesses, to follow this example and champion the Union flag as a symbol of our national pride, in this great year of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee. Our Queen is simply wonderful.”
