Housebuilder McCarthy and Stone donates 2 benches to Oakham Primary School for outdoor reflective area

McCarthy Stone, the housebuilder behind the Saxon Gardens Retirement Living Plus development on Penn Street, has donated two new benches to the neighbouring Oakham Primary School for its new outdoor reflective area.

The brightly-coloured benches, which sit at the heart of the new reflective area, are intended to promote positive mental wellbeing, by giving pupils a special place where they can go to connect with others, think, reflect and if they wish pray.

Exective headteacher Steve Cox said: “By having a reflective area we can encourage the children to think about the world around them, reflect on their learning and be there for each other, they are already enjoying using them. We are delighted with the benches and are extremely grateful to McCarthy Stone for their very kind donation.”

Samantha Watkins, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy Stone Midlands, said: “We are thrilled to hear that Oakham Primary School will be making good use of the benches. We understand how important it is for people of any age to feel a sense of belonging, and to have a quiet place they can go to reflect or connect with others.”
