Exhibition at Rutland County Museum celebrates 50 years of family board games
An exhibition celebrating 50 years of family board games can be seen at Rutland County Museum until September 7.
The Game Play exhibition looks back at the history of board games and features around 30 board, card and dice games from the 1920s to the 1970s – all of which are on loan from local collectors. There will also be plenty of modern games for visitors to play.
The museum opened its doors in May 1969. Events and activities organised to celebrate the anniversary year, including: Space 69 on July 31; Crafts Inspired by the Collections on August 7 and All that Glistens and Let’s Celebrate on August 14.
The second special anniversary exhibition, Back to School: The Village School in 50 Objects can be seen from September 21 to November 23.
It explores the history of local village schools in Rutland from the Victorian period through to the 1920s.
Open from 10am until 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
