A new book, Musical Moments and Memories in St Guthlac's Church 1818-2019 by Elizabeth Parkinson is launched in Market Deeping

Legendary choir outings are just some of the memories remembered in a new book detailing the rich history of the music at a Market Deeping church.

Elizabeth Parkinson, from Deepings Heritage, has authored Musical Moments and Memories in St Guthlac's Church 1818-2019.

The book was launched by the Bishop of Grantham, the Right Rev Dr Nicholas Chamberlain to coincide with the re-dedication of the church's organ following a Heritage Lottery grant-funded refurbishment.

It is fully illustrated and tells the fascinating story of music from the early west gallery musicians, to a barrel organ, harmonium and the current William Hill organ.

Stories about directors of music and choir members are told and how they have enriched both lives and community occasions.

The book is priced at £8 and can be purchased from the church, with profits going towards the choir and organ.
