Chater Community Choir is organising a Rutland Choral Workshop led by David Lawrence
Chater Community Choir is organising a county choral workshop day to be held in Rutland on Saturday, May 18.
David Lawrence, who is a world renowned freelance choral leader, will run the workshop and it will prove to be an excellent day of fun, laughter, technique and knowledge.
The theme for the day is ‘A European Tour’ and will feature music by Faure, Mozart, Bach and Verdi as well as David’s own arrangement of Scarborough Fair.
Tracy Steward, Chater Community Choir’s musical director said: “David Lawrence is one of the UK’s most versatile conductors, working with orchestras, symphony choruses and national youth choirs.
“He was recently nominated for a Gramophone Award for his conducting and holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the UK’s largest choir - 6,846 singers!
“He has just been awarded the ARAM from the Royal Academy of Music for distinguished and significant contribution in their field.
“We are incredibly lucky to have him provide this workshop day for the county.
“He has picked a programme which will appeal to singers of all abilities and I hope it will be a useful networking experience as well for singers from different choirs to come together and celebrate singing.”
The day, which is being supported by Arts4Rutland, will be held at Edith Weston Academy, Weston Road, Edith Weston LE15 8HQ on Saturday, May 18, between 10am and 5pm.
The cost is only £15 which will include provision of music, tea and coffee.
