A new book charting the history of the oldest independent bus operator in the UK has been published.

Part-time bus driver Peter Moore has written The Delaine: Reflecting on 125 Years’ Service about Bourne’s historic company.

It traces the Delaine-Smith family from the first 19th century horse-drawn vehicles, the introduction of motor buses in 1919 up to 2015.

It features photographs and interviews with past and current employees, along with a timeline of Delaine.

The company operates in Bourne, Stamford, the Deepings and Rutland.

The book is available from Greetings in the Burghley Centre in Bourne, or online from MDS Books.
