Forty pupils from Bourne Academy explored the Battlefields of France and Belgium, including visits to Passchendale Memorial Museum, Langemark German cemetery, Tyne Cot, the Menin Gate and Thiepval Memorial.

Pupils explored the impact that the war had on German and British soldiers and spent time identifying local men from Bourne and the surrounding area who were among the dead as well as family members they had researched.

They also took part in the Menin Gate memorial service when Thomas Dray and Emma Shrapel laid a wreath.
