A COUPLE are hoping their new social group will help people new to the area make friends.
Sue and Bob Bullock, 50 and 62, of Burchnell Garden, Bourne, moved to the town about three months ago.
They didn’t know anyone in the town when they arrived, so decided to set up a group for people in a similar situation as they were.
Sue said: “It’s going to be an informal gathering for anyone who wants to come along.
“It’s for people who don’t know anybody in the area and want to meet new people.
“We like to go out to the pub and chat to people but it’s difficult because people are already in their own groups.
“You haven’t got to do any activities, it will just be a relaxed gathering. It’s just socialising.”
The group will meet for the first time at 8.30pm tomorrow at The Venue, behind the Nag’s Head pub in Shire Court.
Sue is keen for the group not to be seen as a club, but more of a gathering of people looking to socialise.
She added: “My aim is to organise a monthly gathering where people can just get to know one another with no pressures to make commitments or to belong to clubs, join in activities or attend regular meetings.
“Single people are just as welcome as couples.”
The Bullocks, who moved to Bourne from Guildford, joke they are “too young for pensioners’ clubs and too old for nightclubs” but are happy for people of any age to come along.
