Three friends from Bourne walked a marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Freya Pell, Katie Cooper and Hayley Rainbow took part in the Shine Night Walk in London in memory of Freya’s sister Michelle Surtees, who died in 2005.

Freya said: “Despite training for the marathon, nothing prepared us for the long night ahead of us. It was cold and tiring but we powered through and reached the finish line right on target between eight and nine hours.

“It was such an amazing atmosphere and inspiring to see so many people taking part, including people who were fighting cancer. It was lovely walking through the streets of London and seeing all of the sights at night and we certainly lit up London with our neon accessories.”
