Bourne jeweller takes runner-up spot in South Kesteven enterprise competition
A Bourne firm took a runners-up prize in a competition organised as part of South Kesteven District Council’s Enterprise Week.
The SK Pioneers competition aimed to find the entrepreneur who most deserves help to make their dreams a reality.
Sarah Goss and her Grantham-based business Savvy Food took first prize of £1,000, while Grantham-based independent fashion retailer Aurora took a £250 prize.
Matthew Powell at Bourne’s Crown Jewellers came third and received a £150 cash prize.
Bourne designer goldsmith Matthew Powell joined Crown Jewellers in North Street three years ago to set up and manage a rarely-found state of the art jewellery manufacturing workshop, with in-house design, bespoke manufacture, repairs, restoration and re-modelling on site.
Formerly apprenticed to a top independent jeweller and trained by award winning designers and master craftsmen, Matthew’s love of the extraordinary and different sets Crown apart from other jewellers with investment, expansion and possibly the company’s own apprentice on the agenda.
His aim is to offer customers something different from their usual dealings with jewellers, particularly as valuable pieces for repair never leave the premises, delivering an unparalleled quality of service yet keeping to the finest traditions of handmade fine jewellery.
