A rugby club which is celebrating its 26th year is in need of sponsors to get the club fit off the field ahead of the new season.
While the players get into shape in pre-season, off the pitch Bourne Rugby Union Football Club, based at Milking Nook Drive, is in need of more sponsors .
The club has two senior sides and a thriving youth section with more than 200 playing members from the age of seven to 18. Despite the excellent youth recruitment the club is in need of support for its senior section.
Senior section commercial manager Paul Mabey said: “We are looking for new players, sponsors, commercial partners, the lot.
“Bourne is an amateur community rugby club, which means that our whole club ethos is built on the very best sporting qualities of teamwork, respect, honesty, commitment and passion.
“These are excellent life qualities to coach into our youth players and this is why Bourne Rugby Club is such an important part of our local community.
“Being amateur does however mean that we rely heavily on sponsors to help fund the core activities of the club and that is why we are seeking support from a broader range of businesses within the local community.”
Paul said there were a full range of sponsorship options available, starting from reasonably modest involvement by sponsoring a match ball through to a full kit sponsor package.
The first team competes in the RFU Midlands 4 East (South) and a second team plays in the Lincolnshire Merit League.
But club officials are also looking towards bigger things on the pitch.
Paul said: “Bourne Rugby Club is moving into a new era both on and off the pitch.
“Over the next three years the club has aspirations to move up the RFU Leagues, and the appointment of a new head coach, Glen Smith along with a restructure of the clubs committee has certainly provided the foundation, energy and drive to achieve this goal.”
Paul added: “There have got be people in Bourne, who play rugby and who love rugby, who don’t even know we are here yet and we need to get them down to the club.
“The talented guys are always going to get poached by the bigger clubs but it is about having a strong club here for people who just want a place to play rugby. “
