Children at Bourne Westfield Primary celebrate Chinese New Year

The children in the Reception classes at Bourne Westfield have been celebrating Chinese New Year this week.

The children have learned about the Chinese Zodiac and calendar and found out if they were born in the year of the tiger or rabbit. They learned how to use chopsticks, made and ate a stir fry and listened to Chinese music.

One of the highlights was seeing all 90 children taking part in dragon dancing as all three classes came together for a musical extravaganza to recreate the New Year in style. Early years education services phase leader Jo McCullough said: “The children have done so many different things to make their learning fun.”
