Brand new tennis courts to be opened in Uppingham

Four brand-new tennis courts are set to be officially opened at Uppingham Community College this Sunday.

The new floodlit sports facility, Uppingham Community Tennis will be available for all to play on and will be officially opened by the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) independent director Richard Baker at midday.

The LTA generously part-funded the new courts, alongside local donors and the College.

Tennis players from across Rutland and beyond are invited to go along and explore the new courts, which will include free games, coaching and matches, along with an exhibition match from midday.

The courts will be available for the public to play on outside school hours all year round. Court hire will cost from around just £4 per hour. There will be social doubles, ‘rusty rackets’ and beginner sessions.

Rob Sawyer, governor of Uppingham Community College said: “I am delighted that this wonderful new facility is available for the whole community to use.”
