A bride was surprised with a trip to the church in a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost along with an escort of motor bikes during her wedding in Stamford on Friday.

Groom Robert Gallacher, 55, who married Elizabeth Bryant, 57, at the All Saints Church on June 29, is a member of the Kettering Biker Escorts (KBE) group.

Members of the group, which was formed in 2017, freely give up their time to provide escort services and any donations received go to the air ambulance.

Robert said the Rolls Royce in which Elizabeth was travelling to the church had been escorted by around 15 bikers.

“It was a big surprise for her and it all went very well except I was almost late ,” he said.

“I was trying to organise parking at the reception when someone told me the Rolls was arriving at the church. Luckily I managed to rush over and made it in time.”

He said the ceremony and reception “went off perfectly”.

“When we came out of the church I had organised for two pipers to play and it was just such a great atmosphere, even more so because it was market day.”

The couple, who met in 2013, are currently in Barbados on honeymoon.

Robert said Elizabeth was a district nurse who has previously been awarded the Queen's Nursing Award.

He said they had met on June 29 five years ago, which is why they chose the date to get married.
