GIFTS have started flooding in to help make a child’s Christmas happier.
The Rotary Club of Stamford St Martin’s is running its Christmas tree appeal where it asks people to take a label from a tree with a child’s age and sex on it and buy that child a gift.
One of the trees carrying labels is in the Mercury office in Sheep Market, Stamford, and there are already wrapped gifts beneath it.
Uppingham Rotary Club is also co-ordinating a Christmas Tree Label appeal and Market Place Dental Practice and the Falcon Hotel in High Street East, Uppingham, will be collecting presents.
And Stamford Independent Travel in St Paul’s Street, Stamford, is also collecting gifts for children with the hope of filling a suitcase.
All the presents from each of the three appeals will be given to Home-Start, which is a voluntary organisation that offers support to families in the area where there is at least one child under the age of five.
