Following the coldest end to April in over 30 years, and a wash-out Bank Holiday for many, spring - or possibly summer - will arrive this weekend.

We could be seeing highs of 26C in the East Midlands, East Anglia and the south east - making parts of the UK warmer than Barcelona and some of the Mediterranean islands, including Ibiza.

The unseasonably hot weather is thanks to high pressure becoming established and encouraging a south-easterly airstream, drawing in warm air from the Continent.

This high pressure will mean a dry-ish weekend, hot in the sun, though itmay feel close and muggy towards the weekend with a risk of thunderstorms.
