British top three set for showdown at final day of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2019 at Burghley House near Stamford

A British top three will fight it out for the title at the final day of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2019 today (Sunday, September 8) during today's Showjumping Phase.

Pippa Funnell and MGH Grafton Street remain in the top spot following yesterday's Cross Country phase but Piggy French on Vanir Kamir fought to be in second place at the end with Oliver Townend and Ballaghmor Class remain in third.

Should either Funnell or French win, it will represent the first female winner at the trials since 2010 and French's first Burghley win. For Townend and Ballaghmor Class, it will see them regain their title last won in 2017.

Yesterday proved an exciting day for visitors with well-known chef Simon Rogan and television presenter Gethin Jones arriving to judge the tailgate picnic competition.

Today will see The Countess of Wessex visit the trials.

Here's our photo gallery from the third day of the trials, which started on Thursday and conclude today.

Next year's event will run for five days.
