Brooke Hill pupils’ pride at winning school games award

Pupils Brooke Hill Academy in Oakham were extremely proud to have been awarded the prestigious Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award.

The school is only the third in the county to receive the award. The award recognises school’s for their commitment to competitive sport.

The Sainsbury’s School Games, which is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England, and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust,aims to encourage young people across the country to take part in competitive school sport.

The award recognises good practice. Over the last year Brooke Hill have taken part in sports competitions including: football, tag rugby, basketball, dance, gymnastics, netball, swimming.

Chris Thomas, head of the Rutland Schools Sports Partnership, presented the award during an assembly.
