Brooke Priory pupils perform with distinction at drama festival
Talented pupils took first place with their group performance at a regional arts festival.
The group from Brooke Priory School in Oakham took part in Peterborough Drama Festival last month. A total of 23 Year 5 pupils entered the choral speaking class, performing The Hippocrump by James Reeves. They came first in the class with a score of 88 (distinction) and were awarded the Wellwyn Cup.
Many children also chose to take part as individuals in a variety of classes, including verse speaking and mime. Ned Hercock came second in his class, narrowly missing out on first place by just one point, while Billy Wegg, Art Culloty and Adam Ryan came second in their mime class.
Headteacher Elizabeth Bell said the children’s efforts were “ outstanding”.
