St Nicholas Primary School in Cottesmore receives £1,000 from Persimmon Home East Midlands
A building firm is helping schoolchildren with their education by donating £1,000 to spend on laptops.
Persimmon Homes granted the generous match-funding to St Nicholas Primary School in Cottesmore following a request from the parents, teachers and friends association.
The new devices will help pupils studying at home and within school.
Treasurer Marianne Tyler said: “The PTFA has been on a mission to raise funds for laptops, which the school currently does not have, so the children can do some IT lessons in preparation for going to secondary school.
“We have raised just over half of our target and due to the pandemic have had to pause fundraising.
“We are thrilled Persimmon has supported us in our efforts to supply these much-needed laptops for our children. They are needed more than ever now for some children to continue their remote learning as well as for those currently in school.”
Each month Persimmon Homes East Midlands donates two cash pots - each worth up to £1,000.
Spokesman Nick Phillips said: “Home learning under the current circumstances is a challenge for every family and having access to equipment is essential.
“We’re proud our donation is able to help the school in some way and we wish all the pupils, staff and parents the very best.”
