THIEVES broke in and stole money from two hair and beauty businesses in Bourne.
Burglars broke into a rear window of Renu and The Attic for Hair, who share a property in West Street, between 3.30 am and 4.30am on Sunday, taking cash from the till and tips.
Owner of Renu, Claire Saunders said: “It is really disappointing. It was a real shock for the whole team.”
As well as getting away with money the thieves caused damage and disruption to the businesses, leaving a treatment room out of order and causing classes to be cancelled on Monday until the police forensic team could arrive.
Owner of The Attic for Hair, Jan Fryer, came in on Monday morning to discover her door forced open with a crowbar and money belonging to the business and personal tips were missing.
Jan said: “I was saving up for something and kept the money in the till because I thought that was the safest place. Someone is doing something nice with my money.
“I won’t be leaving money on the premises again.”
Since the break-in Jan has advised other businesses not to keep any cash on the premises, advice which the police have repeated.
The burglary is the second at a commercial property in recent weeks.
On Sunday, June 17 the Angel Hotel, in North Street, Bourne, was broken into with thieves making off with £210 from the reception till.
Thieves broke in through a window in the reception toilet after getting into the secure gated area at Barclays bank next door.
Police are warning business owners not to keep cash on their premises and to be vigilant of anyone acting suspiciously.
