Thieves stole cash from fruit machines in an early morning raid on a town centre pub.

The Captain Noel Newton in High Street, Oakham, was broken into at about 4.10am on December 22.

Two people wearing masks got in to the JD Wetherspoon pub through a side door before attacking fruit machines with a crow bar. Police said both were of slim build and wearing hooded tops with the hoods up.

PC 1312 Joe Lloyd, investigating, said: “We recognise the incident happened in the early hours of the morning, but you may have been on your way to work and could have seen either of the two suspects either before or afterwards.

“If you have any information about the burglary, no matter how small, or saw any suspicious activity at the time, please contact us.”
