Burglar steals cash from Barber's Chop in South Street, Bourne




A burglar broke into a barber's shop under cover of darkness and stole a sum of cash.

The raid was carried out by one intruder who smashed the glass and frame of the front door to Barber's Chop in South Street, Bourne at about 5.30am today (Friday, December 20).

The culprit, believed to be male and wearing dark clothes with his head covered, carried out a messy search of the premises before leaving with money which had been stored in two cash tins.

Tony Kirkby, who has run the business with his wife Clare since March 2018, said: "Clare discovered what had happened when she went to open up in the morning.

"It's the first time something like this has happened and we are keen for the person who did this to be caught."

The burglar was caught on the shop's CCTV and was seen rummaging through baskets, going upstairs and opening the back door.

However, it was only money and one cash tin that was stolen.

Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in South Street at about 5.30am - or leaving the premises at 5.45am, - should contact police on 101 quoting incident 68 of December 20.
