11.30am: Traffic is slow on the A1 southbound near Stamford because of a car fire.

Emergency services were called to the junction with the A606 at about 7.45am this morning (Wednesday). A black Toyota had caught fire.

Fire crews put out the flames but the blaze caused long delays past Stamford. The car has now been moved but there is still congestion back to Stretton.

The occupants of the car escaped unhurt.

Delays were also caused by a broken down car on the A1 southbound at Great Casterton. The breakdown was reported at about 9am but the car has since been moved from the road.
