Oakham yoga studio Oak Om gets off to a flying start after official opening

A new yoga studio has been inundated with people wanting to join its beginners courses.

Yoga teacher Hanri van Wyk and studio manager Steven Ward officially opened the doors to Oak Om on Saturday.

Oakham mayor David Romney and his partner Di Smith went along to view the Church Passage premises and even have a go at some of the acro yoga moves.

Hanri said: "The opening went really well and we had lots of people come along who have never done yoga before.

"Some studios tend to focus on one particular style of yoga but we have a bit of everything.

"Different people are drawn to different styles so we want to get a variety of people involved."

Two beginners courses have sold out and another has been added to the schedule.

The studio also offers Tai chi and pilates.

Steven added: "The mayor spoke about the importance of small business in Oakham being kept alive and being allowed to grow and thrive."
