An Oakham couple’s vintage bridal wear business has success all sewn-up after the pair scooped a national award.

Abigail’s Vintage Bridal, which specialises in supplying classically stylish original vintage wedding dresses to would-be brides, won the Vintage Wedding Dress Supplier of the Year Award at the National Vintage Awards ceremony in Birmingham.

Owner Abigail Haughton set up the business with her husband Matt Gregory from her home in Cold Overton Road three years ago and has seen it go from strength to strength ever since.

The award was based on the success of the business in its category, and the victory was helped by nominations from many satisfied customers.

Abigail said: “Vintage clothing has always been a real passion for me. We have worked very hard to get this business off the ground but it has been tremendous fun too.

“Just being nominated for the award by our wonderful customers was great, so to actually win the national title was amazing.”

Abigail’s Vintage Bridal sources original vintage gowns from around the world for brides to wear on their wedding day. All dresses are meticulously cleaned and restored to their full glory.

Dresses date from the turn- of-the-20th-Century to as late as the early 1970s.

Abigail, who has a degree in costume design, added: “I take the hard work out of finding what a bride needs and help to make her special day as wonderful as she can imagine.”
