A bank has announced its charity of the year.
Norwich and Peterborough building society’s Bourne branch, in North Street, will be fundraising for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
The branch has joined its colleagues across the society and also across Yorkshire, Chelsea and Barnsley building society colleagues and pledged to raise as much money as possible for the RNLI.
Staff at the North Street branch will hold fundraising events and sell special RNLI items to raise money for the charity that saves lives at sea.
Bourne branch manager Mandy Chatham said: “I am delighted that we have chosen the RNLI as our 2013 charity of the year and joining our colleagues in raising as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.
“The RNLI’s volunteer crews play a vital role in keeping our seas and beaches safe so I’m proud that we will be doing our bit in supporting them and giving something back to thank them for all their hard work.
“I hope our customers and members of the public in Bourne are going to get behind us in 2013 and help us raise a fantastic amount of money for the RNLI.”
Funds raised will go towards training more volunteer lifeboat crews.
