A BOOKSHOP which was saved from closure earlier this year will close in January.
Buy the Book in High Street, Oakham, was threatened with closure in March because the former owner was selling it.
A new buyer was found and the shop was saved but its lease is ending and the shop has been unable to secure a new one,
It will close on January 15.
Manager Adam Faulconbridge says the business owner is already looking for new premises in the town if they can be found.
He added: “The outpouring of support shown by all Rutlanders and visitors alike, as well as from the loyal customers of Buy the Book and fellow retail outlets in the town, was amazing and the six staff at the small independent bookshop are all genuinely touched by the wonderful comments and support they received during a time of great worry. “Sadly, despite believing we had been saved from the gallows and regardless of an agreement having been reached in principal, the long term future of Buy the Book was unable to be secured.”
The shop opened in Oakham 14 years ago and is a favourite shopfront in the High Street.
Adam said: “I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the staff for their loyal custom and many happy memories they have create during the past 14 years.”
