Detailed plans for a second village food store have been submitted.
Lincolnshire Co-operative wants to build on the site of the former King’s Head pub in High Street, Morton.
The pub was demolished last month and this week a detailed application for the new store was submitted to South Kesteven District Council.
The new store would employ 15 people.
A separate plan to knock down the Lord Nelson in Bourne Road and build a food store has been submitted by Aegis Architects.
The tenant for the new store in Bourne Road has not been officially confirmed to the Mercury.
But a public exhibition was held in the village in October by Nottingham developer Saxondale. A Morton and Hanthorpe Parish Council report said the intended tenant was Co-operative Food.
Councillors discussed both planning applications at a meeting on Tuesday this week. Objections were raised on several grounds, including the potential impact on village traffic.
