A new emporium designed to allow independent businesses to test their products on consumers will open this month.

The Love Stamford centre will open its doors in the former Sukies fancy dress shop in Broad Street, Stamford, on Saturday, April 19.

The emporium is the brainchild of Alex and Andraya Curtis, who set up the Love Stamford loyalty card.

Andraya said: “With so many fantastic small businesses in the area we wanted to create a shop which gives independent local retailers an opportunity to join together in a community environment.

“The centre has a mixture of permanent shop units within it but also ever changing pop up shops for local crafts people, artists, startup businesses and small businesses. Our customers can come in browse the fantastic retailers, stop at the mini coffee bar for some light refreshment and enjoy the historic theatre building.”

Andraya said more than 100 small businesses had inquired about the new venture.

Two Stamford retailers have decided to relocate to the centre permanently. Sarah Walters, who runs Bubble and Squeak with her daughter Jessica Christoudias, said: “After three very successful years on the high street we have developed a loyal customer base who love our products.

“When the opportunity arose to join the centre with the children’s play area we couldn’t miss the chance to directly reach our customers.”

And Annabel Wood, who owns Fabricadabra in The Mews at The George Hotel, added: “We will be offering the same beautiful fabrics and workshops in the new location, coupled with our people focused customer service where we are always happy to offer help and advice”

The launch day on Easter Saturday will include a free customer raffle, free coffee and cake for the first 50 customers through the door at 10am and a competition to win an iPad Mini by having your photo taken with the Mini car which forms part of the coffee bar. A range of children’s activities for Easter will also be offered.

The centre will be open 10am to 5pm Easter Saturday, 10am to 4pm Easter Sunday and 10am to 4pm Bank Holiday Monday.
