Stamford-based tradesmen are experiencing a welcome employment boost, thanks to retirement house builder, McCarthy and Stone.
A team of local contractors, labourers and security have been hired by the company to help deliver its new Stukeley Court development in Barnack Road.
Since construction began last May, the development has created 40 jobs for local tradesmen, and once complete it will deliver 35 stylish one and two bedroom apartments exclusively for the over 60s.
Led by site manager, Tim Ashton and assistant site manager, Marc Swift, McCarthy and Stone has invested heavily in the local workforce to deliver its Retirement Living Platinum development, hiring bricklayers, scaffolders and ground workers, with further recruitment expected in plumbing, electrics and tiling as the development begins to take shape.
Cheryl Bissett, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone East Midlands said: “McCarthy and Stone’s commitment to sourcing its tradesmen from the local work pool will provide a welcome boost to the Stamford community, and the importance of employing local work forces cannot be underestimated.
“Our Barnack Road development is still in its infancy but we’ve already got local scaffolding and groundwork contractors helping to bring it to life.
