EMPLOYERS in the tourism industry are being reminded to make sure their first aid training is up to date.
St John Ambulance is encouraging businesses to seek advice on whether they are meeting the legal requirements and how to prevent accidents in the workplace, ahead of the busiest season for tourists.
Regional training manager for St John Ambulance in the east Sue Skoyles said: ‘The tourism industry brings a huge number of visitors, jobs and money.
“Visitors need to know that they will be safe and people working in the tourism sector need to have up to date training in first aid and health and safety.
‘St John Ambulance believes that no one should die because of a lack of first aid when they need it and employers have a responsibility to their staff and their visitors that they meet the legal requirements. It could be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”
St John Ambulance can offer courses on-site at businesses or at one of its training centres in Grantham, Spalding or Lincoln. For more information call 0844 324 5535.
