Village homes and businesses finally have access to high speed broadband following a long campaign by parish councillors.
BT has brought its Infinity service to Tallington, bringing the village up to speed with much of the rest of the area.
Lincolnshire County Council partnered with BT to bring high-speed broadband to the bulk of the county. But councillors raised concerns in 2013 that Tallington would be among the minority of areas that would not receive the boost.
So the new that speeds of up to 76Mpbs are now available in the village, compared to just 2.5Mbps previously, should come as a big relief.
Oxfordshire firm Gigaclear is also working to bring its own superfast network to Tallington, which will give residents even more choice.
Parish councillor Tom Klimes said: “After many years of campaigning we have finally managed to get BT Infinity broadband into the village.
“We are over the moon. The parish council has been working both with BT and Gigaclear to get decent provision for the community, because it’s pretty dreadful at the moment.
“BT has finally delivered and it’s finally gone online.”
Coun Klimes said the new Infinity service would be available for all homes and businesses in Tallington.
“It’s going to make a big difference,” he added. “Quite a lot of people in Tallington run businesses from their homes. For them it’s going to make a huge difference.
“And its going to transform the lives of anyone with teenage kids. The shout of ‘who’s on YouTube?’ will be a thing of the past.”
Gigaclear has been working to connect Tallington to the same network as Ashton, Bainton, Barnack, Helpston, Pilsgate, Southorpe since early last year. Coun Klimes said the railway line had caused some delays but he hoped the network would be available soon.
Gigaclear offers fibre-to-the-premises broadband, rather than BT’s fibre-to-the-cabinet, which can give speeds of up to 1,000Mbps.
Coun Klimes said: “It’s absolutely fantastic for us to have a choice.”
