Helen Briggs, returning officer for Rutland County Council, said: “If you want to vote in the forthcoming elections and have a say on who will represent your community at a local level over the next four years, you must be registered to vote.

"Once your application has been processed, we will write to you to confirm that you’ve been added to the electoral register."

Visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote to register.

If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to re-register.

In South Kesteven, there is still time to register as a candidate for the district and parish council elections.

Call 01476 406080 or email elections@southkesteven.gov.uk, if you're interested, specifying the ward or parish you wish to stand in.
