Conservative and Liberal Democrat candidates named in Rutland County Council by-election for Oakham ward




Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, August 19 to elect a new county councillor for the Oakham South ward.

Two candidates have been nominated for the Rutland County Council by-election - Paul Browne (Lib Dem) and Andy Burton (Con).

The polling station at Oakham Library will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday, with voters asked to wear a face covering or mask.

Hand sanitising-stations and single-use pencils for marking ballots will be provided, while social distancing is also recommended.

Anyone with covid-19 symptoms or those asked to self-isolate should not attend polling stations and are asked to arrange an emergency proxy vote by calling (01572) 722577 before 5pm on polling day.

From Friday, August 13, postal voters should contact the council if their voting information is lost, stolen, damaged or has not arrived.

Completed postal votes must be received by 10pm on polling day.
