A1 south of Stamford closed after car hits tree

The A1 is closed due to an accident on the Great North Road Northbound near Sibson, near Peterborough.

The incident happened at 3.05pm and concerns a car that left the carriageway and hit a tree.

The road was closed at 3.35pm from the A1(M) Junction 17 to the A6118 Old North Road at 3.35pm to help with the recovery.

Traffic is also affected between Oundle and Wansford.

Detours are in operation.

Highways England described the collision as 'serious'.

East Midlands Ambulance is at the scene but there is not word on any injuries.
