Cavan’s model ambition

A SCHOOLBOY has reached the final of a nationwide children’s modelling competition.

Cavan Westerdale, 10, of Pine Close, Stamford, is a Year 5 pupil at St Augustine’s School in Kesteven Road and was entered into the Mini Model competition run by Every Model Magazine by his mother Marilyn when she saw it advertised in the Stamford Mercury.

He beat competition from about 80 other hopefuls to win the Stamford area category and has automatically been put through to the final held at Wicksteed Park in Kettering in April.

Marilyn said: “I saw the competition and had quite a nice photo of Cavan so I thought I would give it a shot.

“He’s quite excited about the final, but I think that’s more to do with going to Wicksteed Park.”

Editor of Every Model Magazine Ruth Deene is originally from Stamford and piloted the competition here. She said: “I like to involve Stamford in my projects and had a huge response nationwide.”

The competition was open to boys and girls aged seven to 11. The winner of each category win a modelling contract and be on the cover of Every Model Magazine.

Marilyn added: “I’m biased and think he’s gorgeous but it would be nice to win.”
