CCTV images released after theft of rare urn from fine art dealer in Stamford
Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a rare urn from a fine art dealer in Stamford.
The Samovar urn, believed to be worth in excess of £6,000, was stolen from Nigel Rhodes Fine Art store on High Street St Martin’s. The theft happened on Thursday, January 28, but police have only just released the information.
It is believed the unique solid silver 18th century urn was taken while offenders distracted a member of staff at the store.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may recognise the two men shown to get in touch. A spokesman said: “
We would like to trace them to see if they have any information that could assist the enquiry. Also, if any antique dealers have been offered the urn for sale please contact us.”
