THE 50th anniversary of a church was celebrated at the weekend.
An open day was held at Christ Church in Green Lane, Stamford, on Saturday to mark the milestone, where memorabilia was on display and refreshments were served. A service of thanksgiving was held on Sunday, followed by a bring and share lunch.
Ahead of the anniversary, the church had launched an appeal to raise £10,000 to redecorate the church, which was successful.
The church has been in its current location for more than 30 years. The Rev Derek Burden, who was minister at the church between 1966 and 1974, also attended to enjoy the events.
Parochial church council member Dawn Field, who is chairman of the fundraising and anniversary committees, said: “The weekend was really well received and on Sunday in particular the church was absolutely packed.
“It was a really nice way to celebrate such a significant milestone.”
Mrs Field said she was particularly pleased the church had hit its appeal target.
