A sports organisation has challenged companies to get fit and healthy this year.

Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport has urged firms to sign up for the Workplace Challenge My Team 2015 scheme.

The digital initiative challenges people to battle it out for the top slot on a leaderboard over an eight-week period by taking part in physical activity. Employees can use an online activity logger and iPhone app to record their exercise during the challenge.

Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport director John Byrne said: “With everyone returning to work with great intentions for the year ahead, January is the perfect time to come together with colleagues and introduce some healthy habits into your working week.”

The more physical activity workers take part in, the more points they earn for their place of work. The workplace with the highest number of points will then be crowned Leicester-Shire and Rutland’s Workplace Challenge winner at the end of the eight weeks.

To sign up and view the live leaderboards visit www.workplacechallenge.org.uk/lrsport. In the lead at the time of going to press was Leicester City Council.
