Changes to bin collections over Christmas and New Year
There will be changes to household waste collections for all residents during the festive period.
In South Kesteven, those who would normally have their black bin and pink bag collections on Monday, December 24, will instead have their collection on Saturday, December 22.
People who usually have a Tuesday collection will next week have it on Monday (Christmas Eve). There will be no waste collections on Christmas Day or Boxing Day and then the rest of the week’s collections will be a day later than usual.
Silver bin/clear bag collection is as normal on New Year’s Eve (December 31).
There will be no bins/bags collected on New Year’s Day, so all households for the rest of that week should leave their wheelie bins/bags out one day later.
Householders can also put their real Christmas trees out for recycling with their green bin on the day the collection operates on their street.
Everything returns to normal from January 7.
In Rutland, bin collections that normally take place on Christmas Day will be carried out on Saturday, December 22, and the Boxing Day Wednesday collection, will take place on Saturday, December 29.
Those who normally expect to have their bin collected on New Year's Day will have their bin collected on Saturday, January 5. All other bin collections will be unchanged.
Rutland County Council is also launching a campaign on Christmas Eve to encourage residents to reduce waste, reuse and recycle rubbish.
As part of the campaign, the Council has revamped the information on the A-Z Services section if its website and made it easier to search. The website also features a new festive waste guide with hints and tips.
