Charity boxes stolen in burglary at Oakham store

A number of charity boxes, cigarettes and bottles of alcohol were stolen during a break in at an Oakham store.

Officers were called to the incident in Ashwell Road, between the junctions of Burley Road and Queen’s Road, at around 2.36am on Sunday, June 17.

The door of the shop had been forced open and items stolen.

No-one was in the store at the time of the incident.

It is also believed an attempted break in had happened at another shop in the street on the same night due to damage at the property.

No entry was gained to this store and no items were stolen.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Hayley Stokes said: “This incident happened in the early hours of the morning but we believe there were a number of people in the area who may have seen or heard something.

“If you have any information at all in relation to the incident, no matter how insignificant it may seem, then please get in touch.

“We would also ask anyone who has any CCTV in the area, or anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage, to check this as they may hold vital evidence.”
